A Hot Springs man was arrested early Tuesday by Garland County sheriff's deputies after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

Tyler Lynn Haskins, 26, of 135 Shore Acres Drive, was taken into custody at his home around 2:30 a.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Haskins remained in custody Tuesday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Deputy John Crow responded to the 100 block of Shore Acres Drive in reference to a disturbance and made contact with Haskins near the intersection of Shore Acres Drive and McCollum Point.

Haskins told Crow his girlfriend had become hysterical and began hitting him on the left side of his head. Crow reportedly did not observe any markings on Haskin's face, but saw a scratch on his left arm.

Crow located the woman, Haskins' girlfriend, and she said she woke him up to show him something she found on his phone when he became irate and pushed her on the bed. She said he put his forearm on her neck causing her to have trouble breathing.

She said Haskins struck her in the nose and the right ear. Crow observed her earring had been pushed back and her ear was bleeding and saw red marks on her nose and neck.

Both Haskins and his girlfriend reportedly admitted they had been drinking alcohol.
