A Hot Springs man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, biting her on the nose, stealing her car and wrecking it a few blocks from their residence.

Braylon J. Hutchison, 20, who lists an address of 1064 Akers Road, was taken into custody near the 700 block of Akers around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with felony counts of theft of property more than $5,000, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to six years, and a misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended driver's license, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Hutchison, who has a hold on him out of Lonoke County, was also cited for careless and prohibited driving, failure to maintain control and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. He was being held on bonds totaling $7,000 and appeared Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 11:45 a.m., Garland County sheriff's Deputy Joey Pate was dispatched to 1064 Akers Road to a disturbance and upon arrival spoke to a woman standing outside who reportedly had blood coming from her nose and red marks on her neck.

She said her friend, identified as Hutchison, "became very upset with her" and threw her to the floor and bit her on the nose. She said he then got up, took the keys to her silver 2009 Nissan Versa and drove away in it. The woman told Pate Hutchison had an AK-47 rifle in the car.

Moments later, the car was located in a ditch in the 700 block of Akers where Hutchison had reportedly run off the road and struck a wooden fence. Hutchison ran into the woods nearby where he was found hiding under some brush and taken into custody without further incident.

LifeNet responded to the residence to check out the woman but she reportedly refused to go to the hospital.
