Second armed robbery reported

The second armed robbery in Garland County in two days involving a suspect wearing some type of mask was reported Monday night when a local dollar store was robbed by a man who had his face partially covered.

According to the incident report, a 22-year-old employee of the Dollar General, 2119 Carpenter Dam Road, said an unknown white male entered the building and pointed a gun at her just after 8:30 p.m. Monday. He was reportedly wearing gloves and "a bandanna or something" to cover the lower portion of his face.

The employee told Garland County sheriff's Cpl. Robbie Swinney the man reportedly demanded the money from both registers while pointing his gun at her. After the suspect got an undisclosed amount of money, he fled out the door and toward the back of the store.

The first armed robbery involving a suspect wearing a mask was reported early Saturday at the Shell gas station, 1591 Airport Road.

According to the incident report from the first armed robbery, an employee, 48, of the gas station said an unknown suspect entered the building armed with a silver handgun at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. He was reportedly wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and an "old man mask."

The employee told deputies the suspect pulled out a red backpack and then pointed the firearm at her and the two cash registers inside the gas station. She said she placed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash registers in the suspect's bag and he reportedly fled out of the opposite door.
