A Little Rock man was arrested Thursday night after he was allegedly found sleeping in a stolen car and drugs, a knife and paraphernalia were found in his possession.

Hardy William Burrough, 43, was taken into custody shortly before 8 p.m. and charged with felony counts of theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance, meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia, each punishable by up to six years in prison, and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a weapon.

Burrough was being held on $10,000 bond and appeared via video in Garland County District Court where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. A felony review hearing is set for Nov. 19.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Hot Springs police Officer 1st Class Shane Lewis responded to Skateland Skating Center, 2156 Higdon Ferry Road, regarding a white Mitsubishi Lancer parked at the rear of the building with a white male slumped over in the driver's seat.

Lewis found the vehicle, not running, and a check of the license plate showed it was reported stolen in the county and had an approximate value of $2,800. He noted the driver, later identified as Burrough, was sitting in the driver's seat leaned back and asleep. Lewis opened the door and saw a large fixed blade knife in the door panel.

He also noted a small baggie of what later tested positive for meth, about 0.6 gram, sitting in the top of the door panel. Lewis waited for backup and then woke Burrough up and removed him from the car and retrieved the knife and baggie.

In searching the car further, Lewis allegedly found an unloaded syringe and two glass pipes.
