Friday's Letter to the Editor

Time to clean up

Dear editor:

Thank you, Dennis Bosch, for telling the truth. Voters are ignorant and "dumb as a box of rocks." It takes courage to publicly say something most aren't going to want to hear, but the truth is the truth. How else in the world, except for ignorance and gullibility, can one explain away the election of a serial liar, adulterer, business cheat, and reality television buffoon to the highest office our country has to offer? Dennis hit the nail on the head: It takes abject stupidity (and the alternative, Hillary Clinton) for people to have elected Donald Trump, who will ultimately go down as the biggest disgrace in presidential history. My bone spurs hurt just listening to him lie and boast on a daily basis.

The points Dennis made about the ignorance of voters will also be one of two reasons Trump will be re-elected in 2020. The other is the complete lack of identity and mission of the Democratic party and the appallingly pathetic candidates they are offering. Open borders, free food, free medicine and health care, free college, free everything. I haven't learned much in life, but I can tell you when something is free, it has no value, and someone else has had to pay for it. Trump has run the deficit up over $5 trillion in just two years, but these insane plans would blow it out of the roof.

So while I won't be voting for Trump, I didn't serve two terms in Vietnam, crawling through the mud and the blood and the guts in places like Hung Lo province, to give our country away to people who don't have a clue. And there is one thing I am on the same page with Trump on: our border security. It's time we close our border completely, and you had better be on the right side of it when it happens. A country $22 trillion in debt can't afford to take non-stop, open immigration, no matter how compassionate we'd like to be. We also can't afford to continue to give these corrupt countries foreign aid, it's obviously not getting used for it's intended purposes. As to all those companies like Whirlpool and GM who took their jobs to Mexico, keep them there, but those products aren't crossing over to American consumers.

Finally, today's paper had an article about an idiotic ruling protecting the continued panhandling here in Hot Springs. I say to heck with the court's ruling, we can take care of this on our own. First, don't give them any money and tell them to their face they are deadbeats. Second, most of our law enforcement officers around here don't do a lot, most of the time they're just parked somewhere, on the clock, drinking coffee and talking on their cellphones. How much effort could it take from them to simply pick these societal leeches up, detain them for vagrancy, and then drive them over the Saline or Pulaski county lines, and drop them off? They'll blend right in with those cesspools.

It's time we cleaned up our country, and our city and county.
