Bryce Briggs fishing tournament Saturday

BRADY MOUNTAIN -- The Third Annual Bryce Briggs Memorial Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday at the Brady Mountain Recreation Area.

Registration for the tournament is $125 per boat, and the tournament will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the recreation area. Anglers will also have the option to participate in the Trader Bill's Team Trail Tournament, and the same bag can be entered into both tournaments if registration is paid for both tournaments.

Payouts will be awarded in both adult and youth divisions, and if a boat has one adult and one youth, the boat is eligible for both divisions. Briggs, a 2016 honors graduate from Lake Hamilton, passed away in December of 2016 from injuries sustained in a fire. He played football and baseball and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Pennington, Condley

tabbed as All-Star coaches

NORTH LITTLE ROCK -- Lake Hamilton head boys basketball coach Scotty Pennington and Lake Hamilton head girls basketball coach Blake Condley were among the 16 coaches announced for the state's 2019 Basketball All-Star Game.

Pennington is part of the boys West team with Jasper's Steve Lynch and Ashdown's James Smith. Farmington's Beau Thompson was named the head coach for the game.

Marion's David Clark will lead the boys East team with help from Tuckerman's Josh Bateman, Magnolia's Dyun Long and Izard County's Kyle McCandlis.

Condley will be among the four coaches for the girls West team along with County Line's Ryan Casalman and Mountain View's Casey Scribner. Farmington's Brad Johnson was selected as the team's head coach.

Paragould's Jay Cook will be at the helm of the East girls team. Conway's Ashely Hutchcraft, Wonderview's Jerod Squires and Melbourne's Eric Teague are also part of the team's coaching staff.

This year's game will be played at the Jeff Farris Center at the University of Central Arkansas on Saturday, June 22. The girls game will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the boys game following afterward.

OBU announces new

women's head coach

ARKADELPHIA -- Less than a month after the announcement that long-time head coach Garry Crowder was retiring, Ouachita Baptist University has a new head women's basketball coach in Robert Dallimore.

Dallimore served as associate head coach for the Little Rock Trojans since 2009, and "brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and coaching experience to our program," OBU athletic director David Sharp said in a release from the university.

Little Rock athletic director Chasse Conque said that "Ouachita hired a gem when selecting Robert Dallimore as their next women's basketball coach. For a decade, Robert has been a critical piece of Joe Foley's staff and has helped our program at Little Rock achieve national prominence."

Dallimore helped lead the Trojans to six NCAA tournament appearances and three National Invitation Tournament appearances in his 10 years at the university. The Trojans also won four Sun Belt Conference West Division titles, five Sun Belt tournament titles and four Sun Belt regular season titles.

"I am thrilled to have been chosen to lead the Ouachita women's basketball program," Dallimore said. "The commitment to excellence by our administration for all students spiritually, academically and athletically, along with the vision of the president, Dr. Ben Sells, and athletic director, David Sharp, to 'Ouachita Rising' is something I feel called to be a part of."

Prior to joining the ranks at Little Rock, Dallimore was associate head coach at Louisiana-Monroe for four years, head girls coach and head boys coach at Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, La. for nine years, and was head basketball and head baseball coach at Redeemer-Seton High School in New Orleans. Dallimore led the two high schools to a cumulative record of 331-131 with two state titles, five state quarterfinal appearances and nine district championships.

Dallimore earned his juris doctorate from Mississippi College and a bachelor's degree from LSU. He and his wife, Sharon, have one son, Caleb, and one daughter, Jordan.

HSU releases football schedule

ARKADELPHIA -- Henderson State will host five games at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium and Ruggles Field in the upcoming season, the program announced this week.

The Reddies travel to Oklahoma Baptist on Sept. 7 before returning home for Southern Nazarene and Arkansas Tech on Sept. 14 and 21. They they travel to Harding Sept. 28 before hosting the annual Hall of Honor game against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 5.

Continuing their run against the Oklahoma schools, the Reddies travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 12 and Southeastern Oklahoma State on Oct. 26 with homecoming against East Central on Oct. 19. HSU then travels to Arkansas-Monticello on Nov. 2 before hosting Southern Arkansas for Senior Day on Nov. 9.

Ouachita Baptist University will host the 93rd installment of the Battle of the Ravine at 1 p.m. on Nov. 16. The Reddies play one less home game this season than a year ago.

PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton senior pitcher Charlye Rowland struck out 12 while giving up one hit in a 7-0 complete-game win over cross-county rival Lakeside Tuesday.

It took seven batters for the Lady Wolves to finally get past second as Payton Hefner crossed the plate in the bottom of the second inning. Charlye Rowland gave up the Lady Rams' lone hit in the top of the third, but after Lakeside sophomore pitcher Erika Bittinger was unable to advance beyond first, the Lake Hamilton pitcher scored a run of her own in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-0.

Lake Hamilton added four in the bottom of the fourth before adding its final run in the bottom of the sixth, retiring the Lady Rams in order in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Bittinger allowed seven runs off 10 hits and two walks and one strikeout in six innings for the loss.

Charlye Rowland went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, twin Jessye was 3-for-4 with one run, and junior Payton Hefner was 2-for-3 with two runs. Senior Sydney Campbell and junior Kannyn Wasson also scored a run each.

Lakeside will host Benton today at 4:30 p.m., Lake Hamilton will host Murfreesboro today at 5 p.m.

Razorbacks down Trojans

TEXARKANA -- Hot Springs garnered just one hit on the road Tuesday as Texarkana rolled to an 11-1 victory.

The Razorbacks (12-5, 7-3 5A South) put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning after the Trojans (4-7, 2-7) were retired in order. Texarkana stretched out to a 6-0 lead before Hot Springs managed to get a runner across the plate, pulling within 6-1 in the top of the third.

The Razorbacks added three more in the third and one in the fourth to make it 10-1 before securing the 11-1 win with one run in the bottom of the sixth.

Isaac Shelor led the Trojans at the plate, garnering the team's only hit, and Shawn Lingo scored the team's lone run. Elias Parker collected the loss with six runs off three hits and four walks while striking out one in one inning of work. DeAnte Sanders allowed four earned runs in relief off six hits and one walk in three innings, and Shelor finished on the mound with one earned run off three hits and a walk with one strikeout in an inning on the hill.

Texarkana's Floyd Hill collected the win with one run off one hit, four walks and two hit batters while fanning eight in two innings of work. The Razorbacks' three relievers shared the final four statless innings.

The Trojans will host El Dorado Friday at 4:30 p.m.
