Hot Springs Music Club has announced the winners of its scholarship auditions, which were held Saturday, April 13, at First United Methodist Church.
The first-place winner was Josh Martin, trumpet, who was awarded a $600 scholarship to be used at Arkansas Tech University.
Stuart Sowerbutts, a tenor from OBU, won second place, and was awarded $400.
Freshman Bailey Case, also enrolled at OBU, took the third-place award of $300.
These local musicians, along with area young musicians, will perform at an Honors Recital on Sunday, May 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Grand Avenue Methodist Church. The free program is open to the public.
In addition to these scholarships, which assist students pursuing degrees in music, HSMC also sponsors a Junior Music Festival annually at which young participants perform and receive written feedback from a qualified judge.
Area musicians, music teachers, and patrons of music can learn about membership in the club by calling Kathie White, 501-262-1196.
