Weekend college softball tourney moved to HSU, OBU

ARKADELPHIA -- Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist were named the new hosts of the upcoming Alvy Early Memorial Softball Classic this week.

The tournament was previously scheduled to be held this weekend in Bentonville. The event was moved to Arkadelphia due to the threat of inclement weather this weekend in Northwest Arkansas.

Henderson State will play five games, all at home, from Friday to Sunday. The Reddies will host 13 total games at Dee White Field.

Ouachita Baptist will play four games on its home field. The Tigers will host 10 games at Sully Anderson Field.

Henderson is scheduled to meet Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis on Friday at 11 a.m. The Reddies are scheduled to face Missouri Western at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Maryville again at 9 a.m. on Sunday and Emporia State at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Ouachita (1-5) will start off the first two games at Sully Anderson against Missouri Western and William Jewell at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, on Friday. The Tigers will meet Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m. on Saturday and play Northeastern State at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Also in the tournament are Great American Conference members Arkansas-Monticello (2-0), Harding (4-1) and Southern Arkansas (6-2). GAC teams are not scheduled to face each other in the tournament.

Fort Hays State, Nebraska-Kearney, Northwest Missouri State, Washburn and Wayne State were also previously scheduled to participate in the tournament.
