Around 30-35 million natural Christmas trees are sold in North America every year. For every Christmas tree harvested, up to three seedlings are planted in its place the following spring.
To recycle a Christmas tree, it must first be free of tinsel, ornaments and lights. Trees need to be cut into 3-foot lengths or less and placed curbside for free collection on the regular recycling day. Or, the trees can be brought to the Solid Waste Department Recycling Drop-off Center located at the corner of Valley and Runyon streets. For more information about the Earth Angel Recycling Program, call the Solid Waste Department at 501-321-6911.
