Free Personal Financial Management Class offered
Community Empowerment Network of Hot Springs will offer a free Personal Financial Management Class to the community from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Thursday at the Democratic Party of Garland County Headquarters, 608 W. Grand Ave.
"Why is it important to create a personal financial plan? So that you will be able to afford the lifestyle you want to live and at the same time finance your retirement during your working years," said a news release from the Community Empowerment Network.
The class will cover four personal financial strategies: Minimizing Your Tax Liability; Reduction of Debt; Obtaining a Higher Credit Score; and Acquiring Income Producing Assets.
"For example, it is estimated that 80 percent of American taxpayers overpay their taxes by $500 per month," the release said.
The speaker will be James C. Lowery, a personal financial consultant for Tisdel Financial Services and the president and founder of the Community Empowerment Network of Hot Springs. He is a former sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and studied Business and Financial Management at Palomar College in San Marcos, Calif.
