Performance poets representing cities from across North America will compete in two days of spoken word competition on Friday and Saturday at The Poet’s Loft, 514-B Central Ave., during the Arkansas Grand Slam 2009.

The masters of ceremony will be Nitche Ward, “the original woman poet” and Mike Guinn, the nation’s No. 1 poetry promoter.
