Lawyer: City should be neutral

Letter questions Hot Springs’ position on petition recall

The attorney for a city director who is the subject of a recall petition says the city of Hot Springs should not take a position for or against the issue.

Attorney Justin Hurst, of Hot Springs, wrote City Attorney Brian Albright on Thursday, expressing concern about the city’s position.

“I read that the city of Hot Springs has budgeted $26,000 to hire attorneys to defend the cause of action filed by Carroll Weatherford. It is hard for me to imagine that the city would take any position either in favor of the petitions or against the petitions,” Hurst wrote.
