Lake Hamilton firefighters Jason Kellar, left, and Damon Dyer spray water back into Lake Hamilton to prevent styrofoam particles from spreading into the main channel of lake on Thursday. The Department of Environmental Services received a complaint about a construction site on Catalina Circle that was sanding down styrofoam insulation, causing particles to pollute the lake around 1 p.m., according to Tommy Kerr, GCDES environmental officer/inspector. Lake Hamilton firefighters worked to contain the styrofoam so the responsible party could clean it up, he said. Kerr said charges are pending.
