Thunderstorms leave 10,000 without power


TREE DOWN: Hot Springs street department crews work to remove a storm-damaged tree from Quapaw Avenue at the Hawthorne Street intersection Thursday afternoon. Other storm damage included flood streets and power outages.
Unusually severe lightning and other storm damage left at least 10,000 Entergy Arkansas Inc. customers without power Thursday, after a line of thunderstorms brought high winds, heavy rains and hail to Garland County.

“It’s pretty widespread across Garland County,” Greg Asbell, general manager of customer service for Entergy’s Western Region, said around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Asbell said Entergy was bringing in additional outside resources from different areas of the state to assist in the restoration of power.
