• U.S. Navy Capt. Debra T. Crowell, daughter of retired U.S. Air Force Col. Richard E. Tooke, was promoted to her current rank during a ceremony July 1.

Crowell joined the Navy Nurse Corps in 1989. After completing Officer Indoctrination School in Newport, R.I., she was stationed at Naval Hospital Charleston in South Carolina. During her first tour, she was selected for Duty Under Instructions and earned a master of science degree in nursing/nurse-midwifery at the Medical University of South Carolina.
