A Hot Springs police officer investigates the scene of a one-vehicle wreck on Park Avenue about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday as heavy rain moved through the area. According to the police report, Eric Schmitt, 22, of Hot Springs, driving a 2004 International Seiz Sign Co. truck, was northbound in the 1400 block of Park Avenue and attempted to pass on the right a car waiting to turn left. Schmitt over-corrected when the truck began to slide into a ditch, causing it to overturn. Schmitt was cited for careless and prohibited driving and there were no injuries, according to the report.
