Entergy Arkansas Inc. said Tuesday that it will slow the rate of the annual wintertime drawdown on lakes Hamilton and Catherine, which is scheduled to start Saturday, to minimize flooding on the Ouachita River.

The drawdown will still begin Saturday, but it will end on Nov. 22 instead of Nov. 15, as previously planned. Entergy said it will reduce the daily discharge during the drawdown period by 50 percent.

The annual drawdown of both lakes will still be 5 feet this year. Entergy said the level adjustments will be made gradually, at a rate of about 2 to 4 inches a day. ...
