To ensure the county balances its 2010 budget, the Garland County Finance Committee has discussed the possibility of mandating involuntary furloughs for county employees.

However, committee members said they are far from making such a decision, and would only do so as a last measure.

The idea of having county employees stay home one or two days per month – without pay – was brought up last week during preliminary meetings of the Budget Committee, which is made up of Finance members.
