Dwight Newman, crew leader for the Buffalo National River wildland fire module, uses a drip torch to ignite a section of North Mountain on Friday during a National Park Service prescribed burn. The 16-acre burn was designed to encourage the growth of natural species and reduce natural fuels in the area. The fire team consisted of employees and volunteers from several agencies, including the Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, and the Hot Springs, Morning Star and Piney fire departments.
