Dear editor:

I am so appalled at what is going on in government, especially with Social Security.

How can the government vote to raise the compensation of our congressmen and senators 6 percent and then tell us there is no inflation, therefore SS recipients will get no raise, not only this year, but next.

Have any of these people been to the grocery store or gas station lately? Of course, they don’t base our inflation index on real inflation. It’s some convoluted formula they worked out when they filled the SS coffers with IOUs they never intended to pay.
