I feel compelled to respond to your editorial “Our city, our park” of May 30, 2009, and Sen. Steve Faris’ letter to the editor of June 10, 2009, concerning the dissension that has been created with regard to the National Park Service’s trademark dispute with Hot Springs and the Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission.

I have lived in Hot Springs all of my life and I am a sixth-generation resident of Hot Springs. I, along with most other residents, consider Hot Springs and Hot Springs National Park “one and the same.” We have a very unique situation...
