Dear editor:

It has been gratifying to read in the past months how many letter writers to The Sentinel-Record seem to have rediscovered the U.S. Constitution since the elections last November. One recent letter to the editor is a good example of this phenomenon. In the June 21, 2009, edition, a writer called for people to turn out for demonstrations on July 4 “to demonstrate their demand that the Constitution and Bill of Rights be held inviolable …” This certainly appears to be a noble cause. However, I’m puzzled by the premise for this call to action.
