Just a note to Rick Harper (letter, “Nazi-like propaganda”).

If you want to make a case for liberal gun laws, I wouldn’t mention England and Australia. In the last annual statistics available, Australia had 500 deaths by firearms, 418 of which were suicides. England/Wales had 226, of which 170 were suicides. By contrast, the United States had 28,527 deaths, roughly 19,000 of which were suicides.

Looking at it from a per capita basis, the U.S. rate of homicide by guns is 8.4 times that of Australia and 33.8 times that of England/Wales. We have th...
