Dear editor:

The Arkansas lottery amendment was passed for educational purposes. The lottery commission hired a man from South Carolina named Ernie to run the lottery for a salary of $324,000 a year. The press reported that only two lotto chiefs in the United States are paid more.

Ernie “hopes to hire” two more folks from South Carolina for $225,000 a year each (a 60 percent increase in their pay).

The lottery amendment is a success. I feel smarter already.
