‘Agin’ another tax
Dear editor:
I’m not altogether a “chronic aginner,” but I am definitely “agin” more sales tax. We already pay a half-cent sales tax for the police and fire departments. If five-eighths of one cent would hypothetically generate $7.125 million, then a half-cent would generate $5.7 million. What are they doing with that? Or does the city simply use those funds to replace what should come from general revenue? Hot Springs already pays one of the highest tax rates in the state. (Add in the hamburger tax ...) Is there just no other way to raise funds? Log-In to view full story or view our Registration Guide. | |
