Sandy and Stephen Rhodes, of Hot Springs, and Hamid Ashtiani, of Los Angeles, announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Tela Ashtiani, to Matthew David Thompson, both of Dallas, son of Darrell and Brenda Thompson, of Hurst, Texas.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Lake Hamilton High School and Arkansas Tech University where she received a degree in history and political science and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.

She is employed as a regional hospital representative with West-Ward Pharmaceuticals.
