The Associated Press BLAST FROM THE PAST: American five-time British Open champion Tom Watson plays from a bunker on No. 17 during the second round Friday at Turnberry, Scotland. Thirty-two years after winning his second Open title at Turnberry, Watson shot an even-par 70 and made history Friday as the oldest player to lead a major championship. He and British Open rookie Steve Marino are tied at 5-under 135.
TURNBERRY, Scotland – A look at Friday’s second round of the British Open at Turnberry Golf Club:

Leading: Tom Watson and Steve Marino, at 5-under 135.

Shocker: At the age of 59, Watson is the oldest player to lead a major championship.

More shocking: Tiger Woods missed the cut after shooting a 74. It was only the second time in 49 majors that Woods has missed the cut.

How it happened: Woods played a span of six holes in 7 over, including a lost ball and two double bogeys.
