NEW YORK — Nicole Powell scored a career-high 32 points and had nine rebounds to lead Sacramento to an 88-73 win over the New York Liberty on Thursday night, snapping the Monarchs’ six-game losing streak.

Kara Lawson scored 15 points and DeMya Walker had 13 points and nine rebounds for Sacramento (4-14), which won for the first time since July 7 against Chicago. Powell was 12 for 16 from the field, including 5 for 8 on 3-pointers.

Essence Carson scored a career-high 20 points and Shameka Christon (Hot Springs, University of Arkansas) added 14 for New York (6-9).
