Favre calls audible, will not come back

MINNEAPOLIS – Brett Favre has handed the Minnesota Vikings one more loss.

Favre called Vikings coach Brad Childress on Tuesday to tell the coach he won’t be coming out of retirement to play for Minnesota.

Childress told The Star Tribune, which first reported the decision on its Web site, that the 39-year-old Favre did not want to put himself through the grind of a 19th NFL season.
