MOUNTAIN HOME – When Jack Clayton stripped the plaster from the walls of his natural-foods store, he found a doorway to the past.

Behind one of the modern walls in the old stone structure was a five-panel oak door – sealed off for decades – that connects his building with the one next door. Like much of downtown Mountain Home, the buildings have stood since the early 20th century, Clayton said.
