Marshall Edward Mumford was born Dec. 14, 1955, to Mildred Ozella Singleton and Charlie Mumford, in Malvern, Ark. He grew up in Malvern and was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Mace Singleton and Lessie Jane Singleton. He loved them dearly and missed them every day.

Marshall joined the United States Marine Corps in early 1976 and served honorably until October 1977. He was a proud veteran and admired other veterans for their service.
