Dr. James E. Murphy Jr., 84, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center. Dr. Murphy was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Little Rock, Ark.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James E. Murphy Sr. and Nina Lee Murphy, both of Little Rock, sisters, Elizabeth Murphy Cummings and Louise Murphy Schlansker, both of Schenectady, N.Y.

He attended Little Rock High School, graduated from Hendrix College in 1948 and was a member of the graduating class of 1952 at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences of Little Rock. He practiced general ...
