HSNP Rotary officers installed

Hot Springs National Park Rotary Club installed its new board of directors at its 102st Installation Banquet at the Hot Springs Country Club. The new board will serve the club until June 30, 2019.

HSNP Rotarian of the Year

Outgoing President Gary Troutman, left, presented the Rotarian of the Year to Jim Pate, who has taken care of the club's finances for the past 20 years. Pate brings a complete financial statement to each monthly board meeting, pays all the bills in a timely manner, sends the scholarship monies out each June and presents an annual budget that includes committee monetary requests.

Hard-working college student strives to be more organized

DEAR ABBY: I am a 20-year-old college student. After attending a local community college for two years, I will be starting classes at a four-year school. I make excellent grades, but I struggle with organization. My mother has ADD, and I am certain that I also have it because I display all the symptoms. However, I have never been diagnosed.

Four generations of Elks 380

Noah Limbaugh was initiated into Hot Springs Lodge 380, making him the fourth generation of Elks belonging to Lodge 380. His great-grandfather, J.R. Smith, transferred his membership to the lodge after moving to Hot Springs in 1947, and was exalted ruler from 1955 to 1956, remaining an active member until his death.

DEAR ABBY: My brother-in-law "Charles" has earned the privilege of being buried in a military cemetery. He lost his wife, "Claire," to cancer 10 years ago; she is buried in their plot in the military cemetery with a headstone. Their children are all adults now.
