A Royal woman was charged with two counts of theft of property Tuesday after she was hired to do tax service work for two local people and allegedly failed to file their returns and they couldn’t contact her.

Susan Christine Hunter, 39, who lists an address of 2651 Nubbin Ridge Road, was taken into custody shortly after 1:30 p.m. with bail set at $2,000 and is scheduled to appear July 21 in Hot Springs District Court. The charges are misdemeanors, punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
