With her grace, talent and charisma lighting the stage, Sarah Slocum was crowned Miss Arkansas 2009 Saturday night at Summit Arena.

Miss University of Arkansas Amy Crain, of Hot Springs, was named first runner-up.

Competing as Miss Ouachita River, Slocum, 23, of Sheridan, is a second-year law student at the University of Arkansas and hopes to become general counsel for a public university. She is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Çentral Arkansas — and, she says, an avid baseball fan.
