Miss Arkansas 2009, Sarah Slocum, arrived at her first press conference Sunday morning, proving to herself and her family that her Miss Arkansas crowning Saturday night was more than just a dream come true.

Standing elegantly in a vibrant red dress, with her sparkling crown atop her head, Slocum told media persons interviewing her at the Austin Hotel that though winning the crown had been a constant dream of hers for four years, she didn’t want to call it a “dream come true” because it almost cheapened the hard work that she, her family, and her friends put into the competition. <...
