A local man trying to chase down a hit-and-run driver late Sunday was allegedly shot at by the fleeing suspect.

The victim, 27, told Hot Springs police he had parked his 1999 Ford Expedition in the parking lot at 2720 Central Ave. and as he was walking through the lot shortly after 10:30 p.m. he heard someone yell at him, “Hey, that white Ford just hit your vehicle!”

He said he turned to see a white Ford pickup driving away from the area where he was parked and when he walked back to check, he could see damage to his driver’s side door.
