Mike Fletcher, a Democrat, has announced his candidacy for the District 27 seat of the state Senate.

The long-serving Arkansas State Police officer recently made the announcement at an evening event with family, friends, and supporters. Fletcher seeks to succeed Sen. Steve Faris, D-District 27, who is term limited.

Fletcher outlined his commitment to public service as part of his desire to represent the residents of District 27. He serves as commander for Troop K of the Arkansas State Police.
