Former police director writes book, shares story

NO DICE: Former Arkansas State Police Director Col. Lynn A. Davis, of Little Rock, holds a copy of his book “They Said It Couldn’t Be Done!” during a signing session in the Garland County Library Sunday. The book describes his experience cracking down on illegal gambling in Hot Springs.

They fought the rain to see the man who fought illegal gambling in Garland County more than 40 years ago.

Former Arkansas State Police Director Col. Lynn A. Davis, of Little Rock, spoke in the Garland County Library Sunday about his experience cracking down on illegal gambling in Hot Springs in 1967. Afterward, he signed copies of his book “They Said It Couldn’t Be Done!” which catalogs the 120-day campaign that shut down one of the country’s largest underground casino operations.
