Hot Springs native and French instructor Frances vandenHeuvel and her colleagues in the Office of Distance Education at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences & the Arts are putting the school on the map once again.

vandenHeuvel, a 26-year-old graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, was the only Arkansan awarded at the United States Distance Learning Association’s 2009 annual conference in St. Louis in April, where she received a bronze award for best practices in distance learning teaching.
