While recently hunting for blackberries, Jim Larkin and I happened across a hole of water deep in the Ouachita National Forest. Because of dry weather and hot summer temperatures, blackberries were pretty much nonexistent, but locating this particular spot made the drive worthwhile.

Though and physically drained from wrapping up a job that had lasted more than a year, I loaded my kayak a few evenings later and headed to the hole of water. It obviously was not large enough to cough up a trophy largemouth bass but suitable for my ultra light rig and a few small chuggers.
