It’s been some time since I have heard anything about the ongoing search for the Ivory-billed Woodpecker.

It’s my nature to be skeptical about unfounded sightings of any known extinct species of animal, fish or bird, especially about the initial sighting of the Ivory-billed by a novice birder. I admit also that the millions spent in this search was wasted. I even commented that instead of a camera the search group should invest in shovels, a seemingly more practical tool.

In retrospect, I may have been wrong.
