LITTLE ROCK — The girls’ overall state high-school golf tournament lasted two holes too long for Grier Bennett.

The Jessieville junior bogeyed No. 17 and made a 10 on the par-5, 430-yard 18th at Pleasant Valley Country Club on Wednesday. One stroke ahead after 16 holes, Bennett fell to fifth place with an 84. Conway freshman Summar Roachell, Bennett’s playing partner, won by one stroke with a 79.

“I can’t tell you the last time I had a hole like that,” said Bennett, the Class 3A champion. “Everything that could have gone wrong did.”
