Ever present fungus among us: mold!

With all of the flooding happening on the East Coast and all the lovely rain and humidity we've had in Garland County, mold is definitely on the mind of many people. While there are benefits from mold, such as penicillin, mushrooms on pizzas, tasty rolls and breads, as well as the important role mold plays in our ecosystem; I think it is safe to say that often mold is a huge problem in an itty-bitty package.

P.H.O.E.B.E. to present annual Gospel Music for the Soul

People Helping Others Excel By Example (P.H.O.E.B.E.) will present its second annual Gospel Music for the Soul celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Historic Visitors Chapel AME Church, 319 Church St. This year's theme is "A Thanksgiving for the John Lee Webb House."

Local cotillion director receives national award

Susan Humphries, director of the National League of Junior Cotillions Chapters in Hot Springs, Arkadelphia, Saline County, Faulkner County and Texarkana, was recently awarded the 2018 Anne Winters Award from the National League of Junior Cotillions headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.
