Dewey Alan Thurman, age 60, of Hot Springs, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born May 24, 1949, in Hot Springs. He retired from the Corps of Engineers after 28 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army.

John W. Stratton, of Hot Springs, died Aug. 7, 2009. He was born March 31, 1929, in Seattle Wash., the son of John Thomas and Mary Diana Stratton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Stratton; a son, John Dana Stratton; and a grandson, Jason Sinclair Gibason.
