A local man was shot in the leg during an argument at the Valero, 1201 Central Ave., Thursday afternoon, an incident that was witnessed by an off-duty Hot Springs police officer whose description of the suspect led to his arrest minutes later a few blocks away, Hot Springs police said.

Forklift used to steal ATM (with video)

A thief used a stolen forklift to rip an ATM off its foundation at Combined Federal Credit Union, 203 Nash St., Thursday morning, then loaded it into a stolen truck and drove to a wooded area at the back of the Hot Springs High School campus where he pried it open using a compact excavator and took an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

House fire possibly started in attic, 70 West says

A fire that destroyed a more than 8,000-square-foot home on Lake Hamilton on Monday appeared to start in the attic, and took 32 firefighters from four different departments over six hours to fully extinguish, the 70 West Fire Department fire chief said Tuesday.
