Firefighters respond to concrete truck fire

December 25, 2016 at 4:00 a.m.

The Garland County Sheriff's Department was notified by the Morning Star Volunteer Fire Department at around 7:50 p.m. Friday after it responded to a call concerning a fire in a concrete truck behind a locked gate.

Morning Star Fire Chief Nathan Kew said the truck was owned by C.J. Horner Co. Two of the department's engines responded to the scene from a fatal wreck that occurred on Malvern Road earlier in the evening.

Firefighters had to cut the lock on the property in order to reach the burning vehicle, he said.

Kew said that his fire department notified the sheriff's department afterward. He said that he does not currently know the cause of the fire.
