Children's price change at Garvan

Garvan Woodland Gardens, 550 Arkridge Road, is changing the age range for children's admission to 4-12 years old effective Feb. 1.

Previously, children's admission started at 5 years old, but Bob Bledsoe, executive director at the botanical garden, said it made the change to be more equitable with similar venues.

Admission for children 4-12 years old is $5, and $15 for adults. Admission is free for children up to 3 years old.

Bledsoe said Garvan each year seeks to incorporate value into both the admission and membership fees while balancing the cost of operations, noting they absorb the sales tax into the price of admission.

One way the garden will seek to increase the value for visitors is the new treehouse project in the Evans Children's Garden. Groundbreaking for the project is scheduled for March 3.

The garden is closed through the end of January. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with last admission at 5:30 p.m.
