Malco Theatre to host free event for Medicare recipients

Medical Benefit Solutions, UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company and magician Maxwell Blade are teaming up to present a free member appreciation event at the Malco Theatre for Medicare recipients.

From 1:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Medicare Part A and B recipients will be treated to a full show by Blade, complete with free popcorn and a drink.

The event is being organized by William Marsh, owner of Medical Benefit Solutions, and Sheila Waits, Arkansas sales director for UnitedHealthcare, a company that offers Medicare plans.

Marsh is a licensed sales representative specializing in providing affordable Medicare plans to seniors and individuals with disabilities through various health care companies including UnitedHealthcare, Allwell and Humana, among others. One such plan sold by Marsh includes the UnitedHealthcare Dual Complete RX plan, which combines doctor, hospital and prescription drug coverage into one.

Marsh stressed the event is not a sales meeting, but a way to show appreciation for his members and Medicare recipients. The event is not open to the general public.

"We're not saying, 'Hey, you have to come to this and give us all your info,'" Marsh said. "A lot of times in bigger cities they'll do movie days. I thought about Max, he's a good friend of mine and he's always doing things in the community, so I called him and said, 'Hey, here's the deal, here's what we're trying to do,' and he was willing to do it. So, it will be a good thing, something different."

Marsh said the response to the event has been great and they are expecting well over 100 people.

Though the event is not meant to be a sales pitch or a Medicare seminar, Marsh said Waits will speak briefly to the crowd about the company and there will be a representative set up to take contact information from those who would like further information at a later time.

"I'd say over half of (the attendees) will already be our members," Marsh said. "I do a lot of business with UnitedHealthcare. This is just an appreciation thing."

Marsh said his company, Medical Benefit Solutions, mainly focuses on individuals with low income.

"Probably 70 percent of my business is low income, so, for the people that I'm dealing with that have low income, UnitedHealthcare has a really good plan," he said. "It's better than any of these other carriers, because if I sign somebody up, I want them to be happy."
