Little Rock -- Southern Bancorp has opened a Loan Production Office in the in Mount Ida, making it the community development bank's 46th location in a market area spanning both Arkansas and Mississippi.

"We are excited to join the Mount Ida community and introduce people to our unique approach to financial services," Darrin Williams, CEO of Southern Bancorp Inc., said in a news release.

"As a mission-driven financial institution, we believe that everyone should have an opportunity to pursue the American dream, regardless of ZIP code. That's why we seek out communities that can benefit from our wide range of financial development tools that help us deliver on our mission -- to be wealth builders for everyone."

The Mount Ida location is being led by Market President Greg Black, a Mount Ida native who began his banking career there nearly 20 years ago. During his banking career, he has served as vice president, president of Lending and division president throughout Southwest Arkansas and Oklahoma. He is a 1991 graduate of Mount Ida High School and received his bachelor's degree in Business Management from Arkansas Tech University in 1995, and in 2004 he graduated from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

He and his wife, Angie, have been married 20 years and have two daughters, Addison and Olivia.

Also joining Southern Bancorp as Loan Administrative Assistant in Mount Ida is Anna Horrisberger, who has worked in lending in Montgomery County for the past eight years. She and her husband of 20 years have two adult children.

The Mount Ida office is located at 506 Highway 270 east. A full-service branch in Mount Ida is planned for the near future.
